About Our Organization
Our Mission
The Friends of St. Louis County Animal Shelter Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting animal welfare by bridging the gap between public funding and the resources needed to care for, protect and enhance the lives of the animals who come to St. Louis County Animal Care and Control and Pet Adoption Center.
As a nonprofit partner we focus on addressing the shelter’s larger, long-term needs, including facility expansion, new kennel construction, emergency medical funds and investment in major equipment and infrastructure to ensure the shelter can meet growing community demand.
We work collaboratively to fulfill our mission of:
• Raising public awareness about the animal welfare crisis affecting our community
• Supporting the shelter’s vision to be a leading force in creating a community where animals are treated with respect, compassion, and dignity
• Investing in strategic, high-impact projects that improve the shelter’s capacity and long-term sustainability
Each year, we partner with shelter leadership to identify and prioritize the most pressing needs, focusing on initiatives that create lasting, system-wide improvements.
